The joy of ornamentation in Art Nouveau is reflected in the inexhaustible range of motifs in the wall and floor tiles of the time. In spring 2017, the Institut Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt will present "Ornament Squared", an exhibition featuring over 150 works of tile art. The centerpiece of the exhibition is a selection of English Art Nouveau tiles from the extensive collection of over 500 tiles that Inge Niemöller bequeathed to the Darmstadt Municipal Art Collection in 2015. For the first time these works will be presented in an exhibition and published in a bilingual catalogue (German / English).
